Nonlinear nature of the antiarrhythmic effects of the lidocaine

For the first time evidence of nonlinear dependence of antiarrhythmic effect of the Na-channel blockator on its concentration was obtained in experiments. The experiments were carried out with a use of preparation of mammal heart wall. As a blockator, the lidocain was used. It was ascertained that the dependence of antiarrhythmic effect of the lidocain on its concentration have strongly pronounced nonlinear nature: While its therapeutic concentration make ventricular arrhythmias be more monomorphic, little concentration of lidocain increases the probability for the arrhythmias to appear more polymorphic.

Key words: ventricular tachycardia, normalized-value analysis of electrocardiographic variability, antiarrhythmic drug, blockade of sodium channels

Our results well agree with the results of theoretical investigation described in [5] as well as in [12].

Thus it must be concluded that little concentrations of the lidocaine raise the probability of polymorphic tachycardia while its greater concentrations suppress the excitability of heart tissue too much for the heart to can work efficiently. Probably the conclusion is correct and for the other blockaders of sodium channels.
